Coming from a site that closed

The one you used is gone.
This is the part worth keeping.

Free, no sign-up, one tap to a stranger on video. Those are the things people actually miss. Verified accounts and a two-person room are what got added.

  • Photo-verified

    Every account you can reach

  • Two-person room

Never a stream or a lobby

  • Connects in ~1s

    Matched on live presence

  • No sign-up

    First call needs no account

What changed

What you had, and what you get

Point by point, in the order people actually ask about them.

Typing "start" and being in a chat
One tap opens a live video call. Still no account, still no setup.
Not knowing who was next
Still random. The pool is people who are online at that second rather than every account ever made.
Interest tags
Gone, and not missed. They mostly matched you to whoever typed the same word, not to a conversation.
Text-only mode
Not offered. This is video first; if you want anonymity, the camera prompt is the only thing you have to agree to.
Constant bot rooms and ads
Accounts are photo-verified before they can be matched, and there is no ad interstitial between calls.
Being watched by a room
Every call is two people. Nothing is broadcast and nothing is kept as a replay.

How to judge one

Four questions to ask any replacement

Including this one. Every site in this category makes the same claims, so these are the four you can check yourself in about five minutes.

  1. Does the queue connect, or does it spin?

Press next five times on a trial run. If most attempts resolve to a person, the matching is running against who is online. If you are cycling through empty slots, the pool is a list of registered accounts.

  2. Is there a room, or just a call?

Look for a viewer count, a lobby, or a way for a third person to appear. Any of those means what you say is not only between the two of you.

  3. What happens before an account can match?

Photo verification is the line between a real face and a looping clip. If anyone can enter the pool instantly, expect the pool to reflect that.

  4. How much do you have to give up to try it?

An email, a profile and a captcha before the first call is a sign the product needs your data more than it needs to work. A tap and a camera prompt should be enough.

Why every "sites like it" list feels the same

When Omegle closed in 2023 the replacements mostly copied its surface and skipped its mechanic. You get the same start button and the same promise of strangers, then you press next twenty times because the matching pool is a list of registered accounts rather than a list of people who are online.

That is the one thing Uhmingle does differently, and it is not a feature you can see in a screenshot. Matching runs against live presence. A smaller pool, and the calls connect.

Apps like it, without the app

Uhmingle runs in a browser on a phone or a desktop. There is no store account, no install, and no permission screen beyond the camera prompt. If you want the mechanics spelled out, that is random webcam chat; if the appeal was meeting women specifically, that is female video chat. And if you have been using one of the newer look-alikes, the Uhmegle review puts the two side by side.

Questions

Switching over

What replaced Omegle?

Nothing inherited it wholesale. The traffic split across a dozen video chat services. Uhmingle covers the part most people actually wanted: instant random webcam chat with a real person, no account, no public rooms.

Is Uhmingle like the site that shut down?

In shape, yes: you tap once, you are matched with a stranger, and you can leave whenever. The differences are that the accounts are photo-verified, the room only holds two people, and matching runs against who is genuinely online.

Are there free sites like it?

Uhmingle starts free and needs no sign-up. Premium exists for unlimited matching, but the first call costs nothing, which is enough to tell whether the matching actually works.

Do I need to register?

No. That was the point of the original and it is the point here. A tap and a camera prompt is the whole onboarding.

Is a random video chat like this safe?

Safer than the model it replaced, for two structural reasons: accounts are verified before they can be matched, and every call is a closed two-person room rather than a lobby anyone can watch. Reporting is one tap and is reviewed around the clock.

Same tap. Someone actually there.

Free to start, no account, and the call connects to a person who is online right now.
